IPT and their partners are using a pharmacological quality culture laboratory to further refine the inbred selection line by producing clonal or tissue culture oil palm seedlings, thus ensuring the near perfect replication of critically selected progenies and fruit attributes of the chosen mother plants.

IPT are also now focusing research into genetic manipulation so as to select desired traits such as short compact palms, Ganoderma disease resistance, non-shedding bunches (saves labour in handling of loose fruits), and specific fruit attributes like oil %, vitamin A and E and unsaturated fat content.
